| Abstrait: | Passive treatment systems for mine waste water have, over the past 10 years, received increasing attention from the research community. These types of treatment options are particularly attractive for decommissioning in situations where effluent loadings are low and flows seasonal. The effluent-cleansing processes are natural in passive systems, and are biologically-mediated. Wetland sediments are the most important aspect of these natural treatment systems. |
