Abstract: The experiments for the development of Ecological Engineering methods on the Levack site in 1986 addressed three main aspects: (1) the covering of pyrrhotite with waste water as well as the promotion of growth and establishment of indigenous species (2) the chemical and biological mechanisms at work in the seepages from the tailings (3) improving the surface water in contact with the pyrrhotite.
