Authors: Fortier, Alexandre; Pretty, Heather J.; Scott, Daniel
Abstract: This study assesses the Canadian library community’s understanding of and readiness for the transition from the MARC format to the BIBFRAME model. Results indicate that knowledge of BIBFRAME is low among respondents and that most of the libraries surveyed do not know enough about BIBFRAME to consider planning a transition. The success of the transition will depend on the leadership of larger libraries as well as better training in formal programs and continuing education initiatives.

Abstract: This project seeks to assess the Canadian library community’s understanding of and readiness for the transition from the MARC format to the BIBFRAME model. Data were collected using a survey distributed in English and French to a stratified random sample of 1,200 Canadian libraries. Results indicate that knowledge of BIBFRAME is low among respondents and that most of the libraries surveyed do not know enough about BIBFRAME to consider planning a transition at this point.2020-09-21T00:00:00ZCanadian BIBFRAME Readiness Task Force survey instrumentScott, DanFortier, AlexandrePretty, HeatherSpéciel, Olivierhttps://zone.biblio.laurentian.ca/handle/10219/35512020-07-29T07:08:30Z2019-11-14T00:00:00ZTitle: Canadian BIBFRAME Readiness Task Force survey instrument
Authors: Scott, Dan; Fortier, Alexandre; Pretty, Heather; Spéciel, Olivier
Abstract: This study aims to measure two aspects of Canadian libraries concerning the BIBFRAME bibliographic description model and vocabulary: 1) Measuring the level of understanding Canadian libraries currently have of BIBFRAME 2) Measuring how ready Canadian libraries are to transition from the MARC bibliographic format to BIBFRAME.
